Answer: In the North Woods, cotton is known as a killer. It wicks up moisture and keeps it on your body. You freeze to death in cotton. Always (ALWAYS) wear polyester underclothes in freezing weather. In rainy, cold weather, wool can be soaking wet and still insulate (keep you warm). That's why old hunting coats were always pure wool.
