buying a pony what to look out for?

Question: I am going to buy a pony for my children and was wondering does any one have any tips on what to look out for when checking the pony out to make sure he is sound and all that i have experience with ponies but it has been a while i know to watch out for flu and such and strangles its checking their legs i need to brush up on and im looking for a pony around the 13.hands mark i know some can be cross but some are very sweet

Answer: ponies are more prone to founder.. check their feet.. look for ridges or signs of sanded down ridges.. pick up their feet and look for seperation.. touch their ears and jump up and down to see if it is a spooky pony or not... show up earlier to see the pony - if its a problem pony they may be out lunging it to tire it out first - check to see if its hot or been sweating... does it tie nice?? does it load??
